In addition he shares that creative process with his daughter Amelie Victoria from his first publication, who has joined more than once as the illustrator of his stories.

“My daughter is turning 10 years old and I wanted to write for her, and the first book I published was Gertrude, which is dedicated to my daughter; but when I told her the story she told me she didn’t like it because that girl was very spoiled and she’s not like that (laughs). But she really likes to draw, so I asked her to do the illustrations, and that’s how my first published book came out with my daughter.”, the author recalled via Zoom for EL UNIVERSO.

Recently, Sang (38 years old) participated in the opening of the Europe Week at the Instituto Cervantes in Rio de Janeiro. The opening event was aimed at children, where the author made a storyteller, activity that hosted Brazilian children and young people together with their families.

Among the stories read by the author are several texts by the Spanish writer Rafael Ordóñez Cuadrado and his book very normal animalspublished in 2002. The writer also told the unpublished story of her authorship titled Little Blue Riding Hood and her magical adventureboth in Spanish and Portuguese.

What is it like writing for children?

It is different because the language is not the same. So to write for a children’s audience, I put in my head how I would like to tell that story to my daughter and from that moment on it is already a completely different language. And it also depends on the age, although the posts like that of GertrudeThey have no age limit. Fantasy is also something very present, because everything is possible in children’s books.

tell me about Mother, there is only one and none like mineits latest release.

May 12th is my birthday, so Mother’s Day is always close by and I wanted to pay tribute to my mother, but also to all those mothers who divide their lives between being a woman, being a mother, workers, sisters, daughters, aunts, etc. . The book is very short. It’s in Spanish and Portuguese. And, more than a story, I saw it as a tribute with a lot of short compliments to mom, because sometimes moms do so many things that we don’t have time to read a 200 page novel.. It is a gift for mom and at the end there is a blank page for each to place a personal dedication.

What other topics have you covered in your books?

Within the series “Stories for the whole year” is GertrudeThat talk about behaviour, for example how we can channel our emotions. Another is A Christmas to sharepublished in December 2021, where my daughter also did one of the stories and the theme is togetherness and not just focused on ourselves. Also Gilberto, the emigrant is part of the series, and I talk about emigration from a child’s point of view: what does a child feel when they have to leave their whole world behind and go somewhere else? I made the decision to take those problems out of our lives and approach them from a more didactic angle. and is Genoveva, the superheroine, also published in Catalan, and it’s about a girl who discovers that he has a super power and lives in a real world but fantasy at the same time.

What new stories are you working on right now?

One of the books I will be launching soon will talk about emigration, a little mixed with fantasy. The new book will be a romance around the question of why people emigratenot only from a political point of view, but also from a number of social issues.
