An unusual birth took place in a hospital located in north-western India, more precisely in the city of Nohar in Rajasthan. The woman, due to the incorrect positioning, underwent a caesarean section. The doctors diagnosed the newborn with polymelia. This is a defect consisting in the presence of supernumerary limbs on the body. To the surprise of the delivery people, the place where the extra hand appeared was the most surprising.

A rare case occurred in one of the hospitals in India. The baby was born by caesarean section with two limbs in the normal place and a third growing from the back. The additional handle is shorter than the other two, and instead of fingers, it ends with three protrusions resembling fingers. This is the result of polymelia, a birth defect involving the presence of extra limbs in the child’s body. Doctors did not disclose the sex of the baby. They only gave the mother’s details. This is not the first case of a child with an extra limb. Unusual births have happened before

Polymelia, a condition where a person is born with extra limbs, is an extremely rare condition that has only been reported a handful of times so far. One of them is , which took place in 2016 and concerns a girl from Delhi who was born with an extra leg growing from her back. Two years earlier, in 2014, the media circulated information about a boy from the city of Bhavnagar, who was born with three hands. In each of these cases, the doctors performed surgery to remove the extra limb.
