Eurovision 2023. What’s going on with the TVP broadcast? “Give it louder Olek!”

Blanka representing Poland will perform in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Traditionally, television broadcasting takes place on the air of a public broadcaster. Unfortunately, TVP has problems with sound, and viewers with comfortable viewing of the broadcast.

For several years, Eurovision has been commented on by Aleksander Sikora, who translates, among others, what the hosts of the event say, as well as Marek Sierocki, who reads the announcements of the next artists. While the latter was partially audible, in the second semi-final there are problems with hearing the Polish translation of what Alesha Dixon, Julija Sanina, Hannah Waddingham say from the stage.

Eurovision 2023. Broadcast on TVP with problems

The first comments of dissatisfied viewers of TVP quickly appeared on the station’s official profile. You can read e.g. “Give Olek louder! He can’t be heard”, “It’s impossible to watch with voice, turn down foreign hosts or turn up Polish ones”, “It’s worth doing something with the voice of our commentators. On Tuesday it was ok” or:

Maybe some broadcast engineer will match our reporters to the sound from the concert? After all, you can’t hear them, only a kind of cacophony, as if they were shouting over each other with a voice from the hall.

It’s much more comfortable to listen to the original version on the official Eurovision YT channel, but you need to know English. For there we hear the leading loud and clear. The second “minus” is that during the business cards preceding the performances of representatives of subsequent countries, no one says anything.

Blanka will fight for the final

The semi-finalists on May 11 include: Blanka with the song “Solo”. He will fight for a performance in Saturday’s final with 15 other participants. These are Denmark, Armenia, Romania, Estonia, Belgium, Cyprus, Iceland, Greece, Slovenia, Georgia, San Marino, Austria, Albania, Lithuania and Australia. The 67th Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Liverpool, although Ukraine won last year’s event. Due to the ongoing war, the role of hosts was taken over by Great Britain.

The winner of the competition will be announced on Saturday, May 13. The beginning of the broadcast at 9 pm on TVP and on the official Eurovision profile on YouTube. For the first time in the history of the competition, the winner is decided not only by viewers from countries participating in the competition, but also from other countries.
