It is no exaggeration to say that it is a real musical celebration and event thanks to which millions of people from all over Europe, as it happens during various football championships, follow the international struggles of various performers. Everyone is curious to see who will win and everyone hopes that it will be representative of their country. Before the grand finale, in which representatives of the countries from the “Big Five” (Germany, Spain, France, Italy and Great Britain) are guaranteed participation, there are two semi-finals, during which performers from other countries participating in the competition compete for promotion. However, thanks to platforms such as YouTube, Spotify or TikTok, viewers have a chance to get acquainted with all the competition songs long before the final vote.
Who will win Eurovision 2023?
In the 67th edition of Eurovision, 37 countries took part, and the music platform Spotify prepared an official playlist with all the songs taking part in the competition. Although after the first semi-final it is already known which of them have no chance of winning (Croatia, Switzerland, Moldova, Finland, the Czech Republic, Israel, Portugal, Sweden, Serbia and Norway passed on), it is worth taking a look at which of this year’s proposals were played the most times. We present data from May 10, 2023.
Considered the favorite representative of Sweden, Loreen (no wonder, she already won Eurovision once with the song “Euphoria”) this year starts with the song “Tattoo” – the one on Spotify has been played 52,504,197 times so far. This is by far the biggest result on this platform. If you follow these data, the lyrical Italian Marco Mengoni can count on the second place. His “Due Vite” has 48,392,420 plays. Next on the podium should be Norwegian Alessandra with her “Queen of Kings” – her song was played on Spotify 42,722,907 times. For comparison, Mae Muller representing Great Britain submitted the song “I Wrote A Song” and three days before the final it has 7,461,929 plays. Kaarija from Finland secured 18,194,466 streams with the lively song “Cha Cha Cha”.
The duet TVORCHI, which this year was sent by Ukraine after last year’s victory, with the song “Heart of Steel” collected only 1,743,522 plays. The San Marino Piqued Jacks envoy is the least popular, because his “Like An Animal” was listened to only 342,094 times. The list of results on Spotify is as follows:

She will represent Poland in the second semi-final Blanca and if you believe the numbers from just this one platform (her “Solo” has 10 million plays there, and the music video itself on her official YouTube channel garnered 22 million views – although only 926,000 on the Eurovision playlist), she should win a place in the final. What’s more, “Solo” on Spotify has twice as many streams as a pretty good entry from Israel that qualified for the main competition. Apart from Blanka, on May 11 (the broadcast starts at 9 pm), there are performers from Armenia, Cyprus, Romania, Denmark, Belgium, Iceland, Greece, Estonia, Albania, Australia, Austria, Lithuania, San Marino, Slovenia and Georgia. In the light of the playback statistics on Spotify, it can also be concluded that Austria, Armenia (the music video on YouTube has over five million views), Belgium, Denmark and Estonia will appear in the finals. Blanka is actually statistically the strongest in this group, because her song has the most plays.
The same is true for the official Eurovision music videos on the contest channel. The Swedish song has 5.5 million views there, and for comparison, the Israeli proposal has 4.6 million. Interestingly, the proposal from Armenia is ahead of them – the clip for “Future Lover” has 5.8 million views. The French song is doing quite well (4.2 million), and then there is a big jump, because Austria already has 2.9 million views. Nevertheless, these data also indicate the victory of Sweden or Norway – a possible surprise may be the high position of the representative of Armenia or Italy, who may not have many views on Eurovision YouTube, but listens in streaming like bad. As you know, Eurovision is also an element of life and the final result can be extremely unpredictable.
