Motherhood triggered anger, they needed marital therapy. “I couldn’t control myself and broke my arm”

For many years, women were shown an idyllic vision of motherhood. However, for many, the collision with the postpartum reality turned out to be extremely painful. Fortunately, for several years, more and more often women want to talk about their experience, even the most difficult one.

Adults who decide to have children are often aware that the reality will not be like in the movies, ads and photos on Instagram. They know that nights can be sleepless, that a child can have colic, cry for an unknown reason, and everyday life can be so difficult to deal with at first. Women realize that the storm of hormones can cause mood swings, from irritability and crying to indescribable joy and bliss. However, there are situations that lead to helplessness, fear and tragedy. A few moms decided to share them.

Lack of sleep is the first step to depression and lack of control over rage and anger

Nicole Ratcliffe is the mother of two daughters. She had been sleep deprived since birth. She was convinced that newborns mostly sleep, but her first daughter cried almost non-stop. After counting, the woman came out that she manages to sleep about 3 hours a day. This caused her health to decline, both mentally and physically. She fell asleep on the freeway. Her relationship, through frustration and confusion, almost fell apart. Only marriage therapy and hiring a nanny for the night helped. This made everything change. And she decided to explore the knowledge of infant sleep, took a loan, started her own company and now deals with sleep consulting herself. It still wasn’t over, frustration and rage would come back from time to time, and they only came when she was sleep deprived. Anger management therapy helped.

Lack of sleep and growing frustration caused the woman to throw things. In a fit of anger, she broke her arm

Melissa Woods’ son has had a strong need to be close to his mother since birth. However, the inability to be at peace with only herself, the lack of sufficient sleep, and the feeling of general impotence caused a rage in the woman that she was no longer able to cope with. Her mental health was in tatters. She hated everything around her, herself, even her child (although she was still aware that it wasn’t doing it on purpose). The lack of sleep was torture for her, and the worst arguments between her and her husband caused the smallest things, even such as a tea bag. Jane Scott is another sleep deprived mom. Her beginning of the maternal road set the bar very high for her, and the difficulties only kept piling up. Rage came out of nowhere, she couldn’t control it. She threw things, banged her head against the door, once in a fit of monstrous anger, hitting the wall with her hand, she broke it. Then she started to think something was wrong with her. She was ashamed, she was mocked. She felt isolated and rejected by her friends. As with other women, her therapy. Now she feels that it is her mission to speak out about such problems and support other mums.
