Behind the commented headdress of Queen Letizia are the hands of Isabel Terroso, a renowned entrepreneur from Madrid. The smartest, he explained to laSexta, recognized her mark as soon as they saw it. She has an almost palpable stamp and identity: “In fact, everyone started congratulating me on my work when I still hadn’t said that the hat was mine,” she explains.
The hats are made by herself, in her workshop. “It is sinamay, a fairly old type of straw and since it is so thin, you have to put as many layers as possible, in this case I had six layers of material”. In fact, this material has been used since World War II. His process is long. He took almost three weeks to do it. “You have to prepare the material, place it and make sure that everything works in the same direction”, he specifies.
To design it, Elizabeth first analyzed the Queen’s dress Letizia for the coronation of Carlos III: “I was marked by Wes Gordon and Carolina Herrera, it was very clear that we had to go back to the 50s.” The hat, the designer estimates, costs around 1,500 euros and depending on the details that you want to add, it could reach up to 3,000 euros.
One of the most special details, she confessed to us, was the pink tulle: “Vintage, old, one of those that I keep in a treasure box and it had the same color, exactly the same color as the dress, that is, it was made as if fate wanted it that way. It was on purpose for her.“
But Isabel has not always dedicated herself to design. She was previously an agronomist engineer. Until someone on the street noticed the first hat she ever made, a leaf-shaped beret. In the main video of this news, she shows her proudly in front of her mirror. “I owe everything to this beret, I am very fond of it and, if they ask me, I make a new one but I don’t sell it, this is mine forever,” she explains affectionately. Isabel’s life has taken a 180 degree turn that, for the moment, nothing is going wrong for her.
