Ricky Martin remains involved in a lengthy legal process with his nephew Denis Yadiel Sánchez, who sought a restraining order against him and sued him in July 2022 for sexual abuse as a minor, a case for which he later dropped the charges.

In September, the “Vive la vida loca” translator filed a lawsuit against the 22-year-old for extortion, malicious prosecution, abuse of rights, damages, and seeking $30 million in damages for millionaire contracts and projects he lost due to the allegations, according to Yahoo!

On May 3, Judge Arnaldo Castro of the Court of First Instance of San Juan granted an extension of the case, a moment his nephew used to present a counterclaim signed by his lawyer Michael S. Corona Múñoz.

Previously, the Puerto Rican singer said that he “never had to deal with something as painful” as facing Denis Sánchez in this way.

And that is that in his response to the legal verdict, the young man denies his uncle’s arguments, stating that they are only trying to silence him and violate his right to free expression with coercion and without reason, as announced by Primera Hora.

In his counterclaim, the defendant refers to his previous sexual assault lawsuit, which was dismissed last year.

“The acts of sexual intercourse without consent with a minor, in addition to being criminal acts, caused enormous damage to Sánchez Martin, who had neither the maturity nor the legal capacity to consent to these acts,” dictates part of the answer.

According to El Nuevo Día, it also indicates that damages for abuses are estimated at $10 million, which is part of the “defendant’s” claim.

Ricky Martin currently has an order of protection against Sánchez Martin which was extended for one year by Judge Glenn Velázquez Morales on November 10, 2022.
