Euskaraz irakurri: Kirmen Uribe idazlea saritu du Eusko Ikaskuntzak
The writer Kirmen Uribe He is the winner of the Eusko Ikaskuntza – Laboral Kutxa award for Humanities, Culture, Arts and Social Sciences. The award jury is made up of representatives of Musikene and the seven universities in the geographic area of Eusko Ikaskuntza, together with representatives of Eusko Ikaskuntza itself and Laboral Kutxa.
In his opinion, “Uribe stands out as one of the main ambassadors of the Basque language and Basque culture, and is a benchmark for the generation of the 70s. His work and his personality embody the diplomacy that manages to spread our language, values and ways of life beyond our borders. And he does it from the humility, naturalness and creative independence of a writer capable of combining the most intimate dimension with the existentialist reflection about our presence as a cultural community before the world”.
Uribe’s poetic and narrative work has been translated into twenty languages. Around 500 university studies speak of his work, in which she has also cultivated other genres such as essays, children’s and youth literature, music and plastic arts.
This same week the winner of the Eusko Ikaskuntza – Laboral Kutxa Gazte Saria award was announced, which went to Beñat Garaio Mendizabal from Alava.
