Abnormal urination affects many people. There are several most common mistakes and it is really worth knowing them and checking if they happen to us. Why? If they happen regularly, they can lead to serious, unpleasant consequences.

The basis is the time of urination and its amount. According to the scientists’ guidelines, it should take about 20 seconds. During this time, we should pass about 200 ml of urine. If it takes less time, our bladder wasn’t full enough and we went to the toilet too early. If we pee for more than 20 seconds, we’ve strained our bladder.

It should not be allowed to urinate too often or too rarely. This disrupts the communication between the brain and the bladder. If we do not allow the bladder to fill up sufficiently, it will send a message to the brain that it is time to empty it as soon as it is slightly full. If we hold the urine for too long, the bladder will eventually start to ignore the fact that it is time to go to the toilet.

Errors while urinating

There are a few more common mistakes besides urinating too often or too rarely, which many people still make. It is worth paying attention to them during the next visit to the toilet. Here they are:

  • rush, and thus pressure during urination (urine should flow freely after we relax the muscles)
  • using the toilet more often than every 2 hours
  • reserve urination
  • peeing in an intermittent stream

Consequences of incorrect peeing

Of course, if such situations occur sporadically, there is no reason to worry. However, if they become a habit and this is what every urination looks like, it’s time to change your habits. Otherwise, we can get into serious problems, e.g. overactive bladder, urinary incontinence or weakness of the pelvic floor muscles, which in turn may result in fecal incontinence and even prolapse of the reproductive organs. Our sex life is also likely to suffer and our self-confidence will be affected. Therefore, it is definitely worth analyzing the above mistakes and checking whether they also apply to us.
