Back in the 1990s, Bogus³aw Linda, Wojciech Malajkat, Zbigniew Zamachowski and Marek Kondrat jointly opened the “Prohibicja” chain of restaurants. At first everything went according to plan. The restaurant developed rapidly, generating more and more profits. However, the first problems soon appeared.

Over 20 years ago, the iconic Polish actors – Zamachowski, Linda, Malajkat and Kondrat – were connected by a certain investment. They dreamed of a chain of restaurants with the perverse name “Prohibicja”. Franchise points of the premises were opened in Częstochowa, Rzeszów and other Polish cities. The beginning of the business was a real wave of success. Business itself, “Prohibicja” generated a lot of profit and aroused great interest – for a time.

First steps

The chain of restaurants “Prohibicja” was established in April 1997. The originator of the whole project was Marek Kondrat, who mobilized his friends to act. – Many actors in the world invest in gastronomy, because it is easier for them to ensure good marketing by branding their activities with their own name – he said at the time in “”. – It is a way to develop social life, meetings, discussions in a nice, friendly atmosphere.

The actors owned a Warsaw restaurant, the rest operated as a franchise. There was an atmosphere in Prohibition elegant premises from the 1920s and 1930s. – Restaurant owners focused on jazz and soul music. The idea, for those times, was really – says “”. The founders wanted a discussion about culture, art and other engaging topics to take place in an elegant interior. Despite this, the network remained on the market for only eight years.

Fall

After the first wave of establishments inspired by the times of American Prohibition, more and more problems and complications appeared. Ultimately, financial problems forced the Polish stars to close the business. As Marek Kondrat confessed in one of the interviews, they didn’t earn much. The biggest mistake turned out to be the desire to get rich quickly while making too risky decisions. Although the restaurant chain quickly gained fame, there was a lack of practical skills in running a business in gastronomy.
