Midwives are also not surprised by such finds as forgotten tampons, false nails that have been misplaced, displaced piercing elements or pen caps. Cavell also talks about the broom tip.

You have to swallow the shame

Objects that become lodged in the vagina, whether through inattention or the desire to experiment, should be removed as soon as possible. They can lead to serious infections, and untreated ones have even worse consequences. This is certainly not a pleasant situation and many people feel ashamed when they have to admit to the doctors what happened. However, a moment of embarrassment cannot equate to serious health consequences.
