Stan Borys received a unique statuette in New York. The artist took part in the first Festival of Polish Music organized by CPS and was awarded for many years of activity, not only artistic.

The Polish-Slavic Center is the largest Polish social and cultural initiative on the east coast of the USA, existing since 1972. On May 1, the first Festival of Polish Music was held, initiated by the organization where Stan Borys appeared. He received a very significant award.

The singer was awarded with an award on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the CPS. The artist was appreciated both for his musical achievements and his charity work. On stage in New York, he performed the song “Bajadary” from Adam Mickiewicz’s “Krimean Sonnets” and the song “Stokrocie”, to which he wrote the text himself. Both compositions can be found on his album “Icon”.

According to the website, citing PAP, in addition to Borys, the Academic Choir of the University of Music in Lublin and the Polish community choirs “Angelus”, “Jutrzenka”, “Hejnał” and “Krakus” performed on the festival stage. Polish children and youth were involved in the event, which is intended to encourage young people to celebrate their native language and culture.

The coordinator of the event is a member of the CPS Board of Directors, Bożena Konkiel, who told PAP that the event was initially supposed to take place as part of Flag Day. However, subsequent ideas aimed at integrating American Poles made the initiative grow. During the event, among others, a raffle was conducted. All proceeds from the fun will go to the scholarship fund for Polish students.

Stan Borys was proud of his participation in the initiative and the valuable prize he was awarded. In an interview with PAP, he admitted that he was “honored” and emphasized that he would like to encourage Polish youth to read poetry, which is so close to the artist’s heart.
