Not all women want children. Some have other goals and priorities in life. And that’s perfectly fine. Some women dream of finding the perfect partner and children. A warm home, family moments and closeness are especially important to them. But there is also a group of women who, although they dream of children, do not necessarily dream of a partner. They don’t need a partner, they don’t want anyone else to interfere with what they do, what they decide, and what they decide. All they need is a donor who will not ask unnecessary questions. It will do what it needs to do and then just disappear.

Brooke Withington, 28, comes from Australia and lives in the Gold Coast. Substantially since she was still a little girl, she felt the desire to have many children in the future. Just after Edward was born in 2014, she first heard about the Facebook group from a friend “Sperm Donation Australia”. She went in there, wrote a post, specified exactly what she needed and what conditions a potential candidate had to meet and waited. She picked out a few potential men to see how the conversation would go. After selecting the final candidate, everything went very quickly. The woman describes it as follows:
I booked a hotel room and he (the donor) came into the room and texted me while he had semen in a jar then left and I went in.
I’ve always been a very fertile person, which I’m very grateful for, but just before I put the syringe in, I remember looking at the semen and thinking “there’s no way this is going to work.”
also adds:
When I found a suitable donor, I told him everything about who I was and what I wasn’t comfortable with; Personally, I was only comfortable with AI, and the donor I chose was all for it.
And so, a few months later, Nora, Brooke’s fourth child, was born. The last, fifth, child was born relatively recently, the woman was in a short relationship at the time. According to her, this Facebook group is the best way to get pregnant, without the man’s subsequent involvement in the life of the family. As she herself claims, if she were to become pregnant for the sixth time, she would choose the method of using the selected donor again. It is easy, hassle-free and does not oblige to further contact and participation in the child’s life.
