The countdown to Carlos III’s coronation on May 6 is underway, and the English king has taken another step towards reconciliation with his youngest son, Prince Harry.

British media reported that Williams’ brother will attend the ceremony, although he will not come with his wife Meghan Markle, who will stay at home in California with children Archie and Lilibet.

The word was the subject of analysis by experts who follow the British royal families due to the estrangement between Harry and his family, but this time the attention of the media was captured by the latest gesture of King Charles III.

And that is that the monarch decided to include a photo with Harry and Meghan in Official coronation souvenir programas reported by Mail Online.

What experts say about the decision of King Carlos III.

Several experts consulted by the British media see the king’s gesture as a so-called “olive branch”, a symbol of peace that aims to “heal” the breakup with the couple who have settled in the US since 2020 to mark the distance from the family.

This is a picture taken by a photographer Chris Jackson 2018, in the private gardens of Clarence House during Carlos’ 70th birthday and when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were married for a few months.

The family portrait shows her members posing smiling despite everything falling apart behind the scenes as there was already friction between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton, while Harry began to face a lack of support for his wife, Mail Online recalls.

“Using a picture that includes Harry and Meghan is another olive branch from the king and an attempt to show that they are still much-loved members of the family,” royal commentator Phil Dampier said.

Biographer Tom Bower sees the move as an attempt to “hide the truth” about how Megxit, which ended with a reference to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s withdrawal from the royal family, had torn them apart.

For his part, commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes this is a gesture to prevent accusations against Carlos III that he excluded the couple.

Despite the king’s initiative and a possible attempt to start peace talks, experts consider this unlikely as it is speculated that Harry will not stay in England for long and Carlos will be very busy. The British media also points out that William has no interest in talking to his younger brother.

The picture is included in the 84-page publication which brings together Their Majesties’ life stories with illustrations and offers a preview of the coronation day, an event Harry will attend, although he will not appear with his family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
