Kitty O’Neil has been undefeated for over 40 years and no one has taken away from her the title of record holder in achieving dizzying speeds on land and in water. She competed in motorboat races and was a stunt performer in films such as “Wonder Woman”. Dizzying speed and cosmic height were not terrible for her
Fate did not spare her worries. Still, she didn’t break down
Kitty O’Neil was born on March 24, 1946 in Corpus Christi, Texas, USA. As a result of having chickenpox and measles, Kitty was 4 months old. Her parents didn’t realize her daughter was deaf until she was 2 years old. Her mother forbade her to learn sign language, but taught her to read lips and speak by vibration of the larynx. As a 16-year-old, Kitty began diving training. She wanted to compete in the 1964 Olympics, but a broken wrist and meningitis prevented her from doing so. Initially, doctors feared that she would not be able to walk as a result of complications, but she quickly got back on her feet. She did not enjoy the achievement for long, as she fell ill and had to undergo two operations.

When she came to herself, she did not give up on her dreams. Extreme sports have always fascinated her. She quickly set speed records in subsequent disciplines, including water skiing, where she reached a speed of 168.7 km/h and in the Alvord Desert in Oregon, where she drove a three-wheeled vehicle and reached a speed of 825.13 km/h. She was also interested in motorcycle racing, and in the 1970s she began to learn stunts. In 1976, she became a member of the group Stuns Unlimited. While filming Wonder Woman, she jumped from the 39-meter Valley Hilton hotel, and shortly after jumped from a helicopter at 55 meters. She retired in 1982 and moved to South Dakota. She died in 2018 due to complications from pneumonia.
