The wife of the Russian deputy defense minister is living in luxury. The sanctions missed it

An entry about the wife of the Russian deputy defense minister appeared on Twitter. It caused a storm on the Internet. “This is Svetlana Maniovich, your guide to the world of extreme Russian glamor. (…) As crazy as it sounds, she is totally entitled to come to the EU and walk up and down the Champs Elysées spending money which her husband earned by bombing apartment blocks, killing children,” writes Maria Pevchikh, head of the FBK.

Yesterday, an entry appeared on Twitter about the wife of Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov, who constantly enjoys life, basking in luxury. He spends his fortune in Western European countries. He wears rings worth hundreds of thousands from Parisian jewelers, he has fun at exclusive events. She is not affected by the sanctions, even though her husband is. Svetlana found a way to prevent the same from happening to her, reports the Russian opposition Foundation for Combating Corruption.

The Foundation for Fighting Corruption publicizes the case of Swietlana Maniowicz, who spends a fortune and has fun in Europe

A foundation founded by Alexei Navalny, a Russian oppositionist who was sentenced to prison by Putin, traced the activities of Svetlana Maniovich. Yesterday, the journalist of the foundation Maria Pevchikh described the story of the partner of Russia’s deputy defense minister on Twitter.

His job is to build everything from military barracks to that seriously weird military church that Putin loves. He is now responsible for the ‘rebuilding’ of Mariupol, a city that Putin wiped out and occupied.

– writes Maria Pevchikh

Svetlana does not bother with the fate of the Ukrainians, just a few weeks of pace she partied in the French ski resort of Courchevel.

She found herself in the heart of Europe, wearing her diamonds and furs. How did a war criminal’s wife sneak into France? Let me explain.

– we read on Twitter. Last March, a month after the Russian invasion began, she took the Eurostar high-speed train from Paris to London to visit her son. According to the foundation’s findings, the Russian woman also rents an apartment in Paris where her daughter lives.

Swietlana Maniowicz is also to rent a villa in the French resort of St Tropez for 150,000. euros per month. You can also meet her – according to the Foundation for Fighting Corruption – on a yacht in Naples. Maniowicz, a fan of luxury and splendour, in 2014 bought a set of rings worth EUR 104,000 from a jeweler in Geneva. She is also the owner of earrings for which she paid 150,000 euros, a Dolce&Gabbana dress for almost 60,000 euros and 19th-century furniture for almost 86,000 euros. The couple also owns two Rolls-Royces: one in Moscow and one in Côte d’Azur.

There wasn’t much stealth involved. As crazy as it sounds, she is perfectly entitled to come to the EU and walk up and down the Champs Elysées, spending the money her husband earned, bombing apartment blocks, killing children (…)

– writes the head of FBK Maria Pevchikh

Maniowicz does not have to hide. He is in Europe thanks to an illegally obtained passport

Maniowicz continues her luxurious life thanks to an Israeli passport, which according to the FBK she obtained illegally. A woman preventively divorced her husband five months after Russia invaded Ukraine.

The sanctions do not apply to her (…). Even though every euro he spends at Hermes and Cartier in Paris is a euro soaked in blood. He may even keep the Paris apartment he rents for his family.”

– explains the author of the entry.

Pevchikh emphasizes that despite numerous attempts to publicize the case, France and the European Union do not react

France and the European Union do not react. For this reason, Pevchikh encourages you to take part in the picket, which will take place on April 23 in front of the Russian woman’s apartment. Pevchikh emphasizes that the pressure has already had an effect – in March last year, the protest prompted the British authorities to impose sanctions on Polina Kovaleva, the stepdaughter of the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergey Lavrov. Kovaleva had to leave the London apartment she bought for over £4m at the age of just 21.
