The Boogeyman is a horror story based on a 1973 short story by the master of horror literature, Stephen King. The director of the production is Rob Savage, and the list of producers includes Shawn Levy, the creator of “Stranger Things” and the movie “Fre Guy”.
“The Boogeyman” scared viewers so much that it had to be re-edited
The horror is based on the story of teenager Sadie Harper (Sophie Thatcher) and her sister Sawyer (Vivien Lyra Blair), who, after the death of their mother, discover that their home is haunted by a terrifying creature preying on the suffering of its victims. Unfortunately, the girls cannot count on support from Will’s (Chris Messina) father, heartbroken by the loss of his beloved, who closes himself to his daughters and experiences pain alone. The appearance of a mysterious entity in the family’s home coincides with Will (who is a therapist) meeting a patient (David Dastmalchian) desperately seeking help.
Initially, the film was to be released only on the Hulu platform, but test screenings prompted the creators to show the work on the big screen. The audience response was really promising. Horror director Rob Savage told Empire that after the screening, the makers were forced to re-edit the production because at one point the audience was screaming so loudly that they missed the next events.
It was about the first scene in which we meet the creature that haunts the characters’ house. The creators added as much as 45 seconds after the appearance of the creature on the screen, so that subsequent viewers, due to their horror, would not miss any events and information important for the plot.
A film adaptation of a Stephen King story has been made. The author is impressed
The film has also been seen by Stephen King himself, who was invited to a private screening in Maine. Savage admitted that he was afraid to watch a horror movie with the writer because he could not predict his reaction. However, it turned out that the creator’s concern was unnecessary. The director noted that the day after the screening, King wrote him an e-mail in which he admitted that he was still thinking about what he saw on the screen. There is no greater compliment.
