Low temperatures are the greatest threat to geraniums.

Cultivation of this species is not very demanding. However, it is still worth knowing a few tricks that will make them bloom profusely. Plants develop best in soil with a neutral pH (6-7 pH). When planting geraniums, you should also remember to provide them with adequate water drainage. A ready-made substrate for potted flowers with expanded clay and gravel will work best for this. What’s more, you can’t forget about the holes at the bottom of the pots, which will make it easier to get rid of excess liquid. The containers themselves should be made of natural materials. Thanks to this, the root system of flowers will develop much faster.

When planting geraniums on a porch or terrace, it is very important to choose the right container. One of the best options are balcony boxes with holes in the bottom. Sprinkle expanded clay and gravel on their bottom, and then cover it with a substrate for flowers. Planting holes should be spaced about 30 centimeters apart. In this way, you will provide the plants with enough free space to develop freely.

Geraniums should be planted on the balcony at the same time as in the garden. In this case, also remember about potential frosts. If you expect sudden drops in temperature, it is better to refrain from planting flowers.
