The ICOFF Gasteiz festival screens 44 films this week
A total of 44 works can be seen from this Monday, April 17, in the second edition of the International Short Film Festival -ICOFF-Gasteiz, of which 30 participate in the official section in the second edition of this annual event that will take place until April 22.
Co-directed by the filmmakers Sonia Pacios and Kepa Sojo, the festival combines a short film contest with the exhibition of small-format cinematographic works that have been awarded, nominated or participated in different film festivals around the world.
Thirty films make up the “Ofiziala” section, at a national level (among them “Arnasa”, “Cuerdas”, “Irrits”, “Malkoak”, “Muga”…), and 14 the “Eusko-Araba” (“Aita”, “Asko is missing?”, “The deal”, “Erlojupekoa”, “Lyuba, tomorrow”… ). These short films will compete for the competition prizes which, with the exception of the audience award, will be awarded by the official jury. 7,500 euros will be distributed in prizes and there will be one for the best short in Basque.
For its part, the “Nazioartekoa” section will offer ten short films, including “An irish goodbye”, winner of the Oscars and Baftas, “Ice Merchants”, awarded at Cannes, “Warsha” winner at Sundance”…
