A shoe, a cup, a TV remote control, a dollar bill – what can these items have in common? They were all compared in size to Pearl – a Chihuahua dog that was recently announced as the shortest dog in the world. The information is on the official website. As it turns out, the 2-year-old female dog comes from quite a family. She is the niece of Miracle Milly, who set the previous record for size – or rather, for smallness. Pearl’s owner, Vanesa Semler, is very proud of her pet. Quoted in the text of the Guinness Book of Records, she says:

Chihuahuas are famous for their tiny size. They are often carried in small transporters or even in bags. The average body length ranges from 24 to 38 centimeters, and the weight is less than a kilogram. Even more shocking is the smallest individual that represents this breed. Pearl is compared in size to the smallest objects we use – a banknote or even … a popsicle.
Pearl is 9.14 centimeters tall, which makes it smaller than an ice lolly. She is also seven times smaller than Jyoti Amge – the shortest living woman in the world. In terms of body length, Pearl measures 12.7 centimeters – about the size of a dollar bill – and weighs 553 grams
