Can you dry laundry on the balcony? Some may be surprised

Although the law does not prohibit drying laundry on balconies or terraces in a block of flats, such restrictions may be introduced by the regulations of individual housing cooperatives. So before you hang wet clothes outside, read the recommendations set by the cooperatives. It may then turn out that it is not in accordance with the regulations introduced.

First of all, in most cases it is forbidden to hang laundry outside the balustrade or on the ropes that are attached to the balcony and the building. Some housing cooperatives also stipulate not to hang clothes that are too wet outside, which could drip onto the neighbors’ balconies. It is therefore recommended to put them on the balcony on portable dryers.

What can not be done on the balcony? You’ll even get fined for it

It turns out that you can’t do a few things on the balcony, which may even result in a fine. This applies primarily to smoking cigarettes or grilling. If we pollute a neighbor’s property in this way with ash or cigarette butts, it is possible that we will pay a fine of up to PLN 500. It is similar with hanging on the balustrade outside the balcony. If such falls and causes harm to someone, the perpetrator is liable to imprisonment for up to three years. However, if someone’s property is damaged in this way, we will pay a fine of at least PLN 500.
