Pensioners who have reached the age of 65 can count on recalculation of the benefit if they meet the appropriate conditions. This option is available to women who have retired at the age of 60 and have accounts in Open Pension Funds. For five years, these seniors periodic capital pension, and later it changes. However, not all pensioners will receive a higher benefit automatically. Some must submit an application to the Social Insurance Institution.

What should I do to have my benefit recalculated? Some seniors need to apply

Pensioners who acquired the right to receive the benefit from 1 October 2017 do not have to submit an application. Their benefit will be recalculated by ZUS and after reaching the age of 65 it will be paid in the new amount. However, the case is different when senior women receive a survivor’s pension after a deceased spouse together with a periodic capital pension or acquired the right to an old-age pension before October 1, 2017 and were born after April 1, 1957 (up to September 30, 1957).

In such cases, seniors must submit an ERPO application to ZUS to have them counted. If it turns out that the husband’s pension is higher, ZUS will continue to pay it. However, when the newly calculated senior pension is more favorable, the Social Insurance Institution will pay this benefit, in each case acting to the benefit of the pensioner.
