This is the end of HBO Max. There will be a new platform, price list and a handful of hits

Warner promises big changes. This is the end of the HBO Max service, the platform responsible for series hits such as “Succession”, “The Last of Us” or “Game of Thrones” will be replaced by a new giant. When will the service appear in Poland? How much will the subscription cost? What will change? We already know the answer to most of these questions.

Warner Bros. Discovery announced a major revolution during a special conference. The platform will disappear from users’ devices, and the media giant has bet on a new brand, which, according to David Zaslav, the president of the company, has a chance to compete with the biggest streaming rivals – i .

End of HBO Max. When is the new platform in Poland? How much will the subscription cost?

HBO Max will replace the MAX service, which will premiere in the US on May 23 this year. In Poland, the new platform will only appear in 2024. So far, we do not know what the rules for using the website and the subscription prices dedicated to our country will be. In the US, the lowest ad-supported plan costs $9.99 a month or $99.9 a year (productions can be watched on two devices at the same time, also in Full HD) – the price therefore does not differ from the current one to be paid for using HBO Max, which is good news for users from other countries. Max’s standard plan is slightly more expensive. Users will get rid of ads, but they will pay $15.99 per month or $149.99 per year. An additional option in the plan is the ability to download images and watch them later offline. The most expensive offer in the US is the so-called “ultimate plan” which provides for viewing on four devices simultaneously, 4K quality, 100 productions to download and Dolby Atmos sound. The service costs $19.99 a month or $199.99 a year.

The service will feature classic HBO productions such as “Succession”, “Line of the Dragon” or “The Sopranos” and the Discovery Library (“Fixer Upper”, “Dr. Pimple Popper”). Interestingly, Warner will not remove Discovery Plus, which will remain a standalone service. This is a conscious move to keep current users with you. The research clearly showed that most subscribers would not be interested in subscribing to a new, more expensive platform.

Warner announces a number of new products. Three highly anticipated series, new Harry Potter and Game of Thrones

At the same time, HBO announces a number of new products. The platform presented teasers of three highly anticipated productions. True Detective: Night Land starring Jodie Foster is coming soon. The series tells about the employees of the Arctic Research Station Tsalal who disappear without a trace. To solve the case, Detective Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront not only the darkness within themselves, but also delve into the truths buried deep under the eternal ice.

“The Sympathizer” is a series with Robert Downey Jr., who will play several roles in the production and is its executive producer. The story is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Viet Than Nguyen. A spy thriller and cross-cultural satire in one, it follows the struggles of a half-French, half-Vietnamese communist spy during the final days of the Vietnam War and exile in the United States. The last of the teasers is the announcement of “The Regime” – a series with Oscar winner Kate Winslet in the lead role. The production depicts a year of life behind the palace walls of a modern European regime that begins to collapse.

In addition, Warner has also confirmed work on a series in the universe and a prequel “”, which will be supervised by George RR Martin himself.
