The 31-year-old moved to the Netherlands to join the NWVG-Uplus team, which is preparing for the 2024 Summer Olympics. In order to fulfill her goal and represent Canada in cycling, she must also collect funds for her start. The reason is that the team that Alexandra belongs to is amateur. Looking for funds to finance her dream, she set up an account on an adult platform. In an interview with Ianculescu, she revealed:
It helps me survive, pays rent, groceries, and covers my bike and coffee bills. Someone suggested that I could sell my photos, since I upload them anyway, on the Internet. I was surprised. ‘People really pay for this?’
The athlete admits that she stopped worrying about financial issues, her life has completely changed. She is now able to train full-time, go on the trips she always dreamed of, buy her dream bikes and training equipment, and even save up for a car.
In one of her posts on Instagram, she published a sincere , in which she admitted that she was initially concerned about her image, but now sees it as an opportunity to make her dreams come true.
I don’t have to sacrifice my sporting life to work three jobs, as I did in the past, while pursuing my Olympic dreams. […] I used to care what people thought, but then I realized that their opinions don’t pay my bills.
