When two-year-old Labrador-type Coco and his friend came to the shelter, the veterinarians did not know what caused their poor condition. Eventually, they concluded that the animals were suffering from alcohol withdrawal syndrome. The second dog did not survive, while Coco underwent therapy and was given sedatives for a month, as he developed aggressive attacks due to alcohol withdrawal. Employees will have to put in a lot of work to make him suitable for adoption. However, they decided that they would place Coco in a temporary home, because the therapy at home would be much better than at the shelter.

He is not yet ready for adoption, although he seems to have recovered physically, mentally he is still very anxious. (…) No one knows the details of how these dogs became addicted to alcohol, but we do know that without our care, Coco probably would not have survived.
