She gave birth to a child at the age of 58. “I knew I would regret it if I didn’t try”

She has always been terrified of being a single mother. At the age of 30, it turned out that she had fertility problems, then her marriage broke up, but her goal was still to enjoy life to the fullest. It was only after turning 50 that the need to become a mother was so strong that nothing stopped her from making her dream come true.

Carolyne was born in Australia and grew up in Scotland. In her youth, she did not think about a child. She was not selfish, but she wanted to go crazy, travel, have fun and enjoy life as much as possible. When the first thoughts about motherhood appeared, the woman was already about 30 years old and found out that she had fertility problems. However, it was still not the right time for her to have a child. She put those plans aside.

To fulfill her dreams of a child, she adopted an embryo

When Carolyne discovered she had fertility problems, she was married and in her 30s. However, before she and her husband started thinking about in vitro fertilization, their relationship fell apart. She hoped that after the divorce someone would come into her life to take her husband’s place, but that didn’t happen. Despite being single, after turning 50, as a woman, she felt a strong need to have a child. Her late age prevented her from adopting an embryo in Australia. The age limit here is 55 years. Therefore, the woman decided to go to India and pay for the adoption of the embryo there – the age limit is 58 years. She paid about £4,500 – about PLN 24,000 for it. A fertilization procedure was performed in New Delhi using the egg of a 21-year-old woman from India and sperm from an American donor. Carolyne had the procedure just before turning 58.

Late motherhood is definitely better, according to the woman

In 2017, Javed, Carolyne’s son, was born. He was born by caesarean section and caused the woman to go mad with happiness. Although she would never have thought that she would become a mother just before turning 60, she does not regret her decision one bit. In her youth, she claimed that she would never want or be able to be a single mother. However, life writes different scenarios and it turned out that single motherhood is her destiny. Although it was not easy, especially at the beginning, because the woman does not have any close people around her who could help her, comfort her or simply accompany and talk sometimes. Today Javed is 5 years old and his mum thinks late motherhood is great. He has more experience, patience and a completely different approach to certain thingsthan when she was much younger.

Years passed and I knew I would regret it if I didn’t try. I’m not selfish. The decision to undergo in vitro fertilization was the best decision I have made in my life. Late motherhood gives you wings.

Carolyn concludes.
