Kasia Stankiewicz was 18 years old and made a sensation in “Chance for Success”. This performance has gone down in history

In 1995, one of the episodes of “Chances of Success” was devoted to the work of the Varius Manx band – the participants of the program sang songs from the group’s repertoire, and the musicians had to choose the winner. The teenage Kasia Stankiewicz, who brilliantly sang “Zamigota³ ¶wiat”, made an electrifying impression on everyone. Listening to her performance years later, it’s easy to understand why she later became the vocalist of this formation.

The performance in “” really gave rise to the musical career of Kasia Stankiewicz, who appeared in the studio at Woronicza when she was a high school student. – So that I am not such an ordinary host, I will now show what psychic abilities I have. Kasia – you are from Działdowo. Do not say anything. You have a sister, your sister goes to school and so do you, I guess – he jokingly introduced the audience to the young vocalist leading the Wojciech Mann program.

This performance went down in the history of “Chances for success”

Kasia Stankiewicz got to sing the lyrical, though vocally demanding song “Zamigocze Świat”. The music for it was composed by Robert Janson, and the text was written by Anita Lipnicka. The young singer coped with the interpretation of the song literally “singing” – the band members listened to her with pleasure, Lipnicka even looked a bit dreamy. She rewarded the debutante with warm applause. It turned out that the 18-year-old was unbeatable and won the entire episode. This is what it sounded like then:

The musicians remembered her well and spoke to her when a year later Lipnicka decided to leave Varius Manx. Kasia Stankiewicz herself recalls that fateful day, which turned out to be: “The recording was delayed by several hours. We, the participants, as hyperactive debutants, for these few hours screamed our papa at the top of the television, singing all the songs taken out of the memory bank. Later, there was a rehearsal, very important, as it turned out after time. Each participant could choose their favorite song, sing and get used to the territory. As a person with average knowledge of the band’s work, I had one easy choice. Can you guess which one?” – she described the preparations and warm-up before the big recording.

As it turns out, the band members were already listening to the participants of the party: “Behind the big curtain, as it turned out later, the Varius were standing. The curtain was at the back of the stage, so they could see my back. ‘Eeeey, no, cool, it can be in the back – That’s how I got to Varius Manx,’ recalls Kasia Stankiewicz on Instagram.

The singer joined in 1996 – they started working on new material almost immediately. Kasia got a combat task – apart from singing, she had to take on the burden of writing song lyrics just like Anita Lipnicka. The first piece, which was created in the new arrangement, was the piece “Orła shadow”. In the lyrical layer, there was indeed a jump between what Stankiewicz, debuting in this role, had invented, and what Lipnicka had in her soul. So there was no shortage of controversy when the single was released, but eventually the song became an undisputed hit and to this day is one of the band’s best-known hits. The album “Ego” was certified gold, which the group received during its performance at the 33rd National Festival of Polish Song in Opole. Later it turned out that for the sold 400 thousand. copies of the album are already multi-platinum.

Stankiewicz worked with the group for four years, and then, like her predecessor, decided to pursue a solo career. Her place in the band was taken by Monika Kuszyńska, who played with the group for 10 years. After her departure from Varius Manx, two other singers collaborated briefly: Anna Józefina Lubieniecka sang with them from 2010 to 2013, and Edyta Kuczyńska from 2013 to 2015. Later, on the occasion of the jubilee tour, the musicians resumed cooperation with Stankiewicz. The concerts were so successful that Kasia returned to the band permanently.
