Since 2013, Polsat’s schedule includes the program “Our New Home”, which is one of the station’s flagship positions. Katarzyna Dowbor and her renovation team have already helped hundreds of families who could not afford to change their living conditions. Recently, however, much more has been said about the backstage of renovations and about the situation of program participants after its completion.

The host of the program has repeatedly mentioned the cost of renovation, which has recently increased significantly. Some time ago, she gave an interview to the Pomponik portal, in which she provided some information on topics that Internet users were eager to discuss.
At the very beginning, she praised the construction managers, who play the most important role in renovating the house: “Great respect for them for this. If it wasn’t for the fact that they know when, how, where and what materials to order, we would be lost in all this. Often it’s just that our construction bosses work together with their guys and sometimes they just have to shout because someone has to keep discipline.”
Later in the conversation, she mentioned the increasing costs of building materials that are necessary to carry out the renovation: “There are big problems at the moment with the purchase of materials. These materials have become very expensive and this is a bit of a problem, but our teams are dealing with it. Often these costs at the end of construction turn out to be underestimated, because it was not foreseen that within a week, for example, a cardboard-gypsum board will become more expensive.
However, there were two issues that aroused the greatest emotions, which she later raised. It is about allegedly contributing to the program participants to renovate their homes. Katarzyna Dowbor strongly denied these rumors:
Families do not participate in the costs at all. Such renovation does not cost them a penny. We try to make them spend these five days wonderfully. There are still gifts. They don’t feel the crisis at all.
Another topic of gossip recently has been the matter of the wealth tax that every family should pay when they receive a home renovation as a gift. The host again admitted that the participants of the program do not have to worry about this:
The tax is paid by Telewizja Polsat. Also, the family absolutely does not pay this tax. The family gets a new house and it doesn’t cost them a penny.
