The writer Dolores Redondo, Prince of Viana Award for Culture

The Navarro Council for Culture and the Arts has awarded the writer Dolores Redondo the 2023 Prince of Viana Award for Culture, as reported this Monday at a press conference by the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Government of Navarra, Rebeca Esnaola.
Esnaola has pointed out that the Redondo award recognizes “his undoubted figure of reference in the most recent Spanish literature; and his involvement and personal and professional connection with Navarra, being our community, with its landscapes, its people and its customs, one more character of his work”.
Redondo is the fourth woman who, individually, wins the Príncipe de Viana, and is the first writer to do so. The award ceremony for Redondo -with an economic endowment of 20,000 euros- will take place in Viana next Saturday, June 3.
In addition to the prize-winner, author among others of the Baztan Trilogy and “Waiting for the Flood”, the Bilaketa association, the composer Vanessa Garde and the musician Aurelio Sagaseta were competing for the Príncipe de Viana award.
Artistic Talent Promotion Award
The writer Laura Chivite Ezquieta (Pamplona, 1995) has been distinguished with the Promotion of Artistic Talent award, which in 2023 celebrates its fourth edition, and joins the list made up of Iván Carmona (2020), Martxel Rodriguez (2021), and Sofia Esparza (2022).
The jury has taken into account in its selection “the originality in the use of narrative languages, providing a singular voice and great imagination; the variety of repertoire that goes from the story, the dramaturgy or the cinematographic scripts; which constitutes an exponent of the richness of the word in his generation, and the specialized recognition received in his short career”.
In April 2022 he published ‘People who laugh’ in the publishing house Caballo de Troya.
