British “Got Talent” juror made a gaffe on the radio. Listeners pointed out to her that instead of paying homage to the late presenter, she presented ignorance of his identity and views.

Paul O’Grady is a famous television and radio presenter. The 67-year-old died on March 28, 2023, which was confirmed by his husband Andre Portasio. O’Grady became famous as a media personality and in the 1980s and 1990s he also performed as a drag queen under the name Lily Savage.

The star, also known from the original talk show “The Paul O’Grady Show”, was bid farewell by many personalities from the entertainment industry. Entries in social media informing about his death were posted by actors and musicians. The juror of the British “Got Talent” also paid tribute to the deceased. Actress Amanda Holden has been evaluating the performances of talent show contestants since 2007. She talked about Paul O’Gardy’s death right after the tragic reports on The Heart Radio.

I’m in shock. You know what I loved about him? He was not a “woke” (a phenomenon referring to people who are not indifferent to systemic oppression, focused on social justice – editor’s note). He had strong opinions on everything, which I love about people,” Holden said.

The actress added that she thought the presenter was really funny and everything that came out of his mouth was brilliant. Holden stressed how much everyone who knew him would miss him. Audiences of the broadcast quickly pointed out her gaffe. Numerous voices appeared on Twitter, in which it was noted that the actress does not fully understand the definition of “woke”.

According to , there were suggestions in the comments that Holden was copying distorted definitions of the word that are spread by the political right and are offensive to progressive principles. O’Grady’s fans emphasize that the late star fought the lack of social justice for years, was an activist raising awareness about AIDS, an icon and a hero of the LGBTQ+ community to which he belonged.
