Atocha is now Atocha-Almudena Grandes. Almost a year and a half after her death, the station with the most passenger traffic in the country has come to bear the name of the Madrid writer, to whom family, friends, public representatives and travelers have paid tribute this Friday at the presentation ceremony of the new denomination.

“The next station will always be Almudena Grandes”has expressed, excited, Luis Garcia Monterowho has been able to see how the plaque with his wife’s name was unveiled in front of the station’s tropical garden.

The author, born on May 7, 1960, and who became known with ‘The Ages of Lulú’ in 1989, passed away on November 27, 2021 at age 61 because of cancer. From now on, it gives its name to one of the best-known stations in the capital, from today Madrid Station – Puerta de Atocha – Almudena Grandes.
