This will be the new edition of the REM awards, now face-to-face with live shows

BRAKE is the acronym that refers to Ecuadorian Music Rankingmanaged by the Association of Authors and Composers of Ecuador (Sayce)which identifies local artists and their most listened to songs radios and platforms (such as Spotify, YouTube, Deezer, Amazon and Apple Music). After using this tool for at least 4 years (since 2019), Sayce decided to award the artists with the best reproduction numbers included in that ranking in 2022 at a ceremony of the same name, REM Awards.

In 2023, the price will return to its second edition next Wednesday, April 5, 2023. In this episode, the REMs in turn celebrate their first face-to-face galawhich will take place in the Guayaquil Art Center Theater. It will have a red carpet, which will be in charge of the TV presenter Michael Pincay; led by the famous actor Diego Spotorno; as well as with the live shows of the nominated artists.

“Sayce has the most modern and complete monitoring system that exists in our country (Vericast), because it is an international company that provides us with this service. We need this because it is essential for the work to determine which songs are played, in what proportion and in this way to be able to collect what corresponds to copyrights,” explains musician Juan Fernando Velasco, president of Sayce. “Moreover, as the Board of Directors, it seemed to us that we could make it available to the public and especially to people in the music industry, because it is precisely relevant information and it certainly tells us which are the most listened songs in Ecuador in which radios and digital platforms.

Velasco reminds that the REM is an objective reward, based on their statistics there is no jury out. “There is no other award in this style in our country. However, We have two recognitions that the public does participate in”. It refers to the favorite of the public and the recognition processwhich will be delivered to the composer and music producer this year Jorge Luis Bohorquez.
