In conversation with Gaby Diazleader IN ccontact, Alfonso barbed from the Monteros he recalled a special moment in his life related to the music he loves so much.
I was 22 years old Don Alfonso when he worked for a month in Guayaquil, 1962. A man from Quito was walking down the street at midnight on his way from work when he suddenly heard a loud voice that attracted him. It never occurred to him that it would be American Nightingale because the journalist knew that voice by heart, so he curiously approached the house where the song was coming from Guayaquil of my loves and someone opened the door for him.

At the time he was working at a radio station in Luque and Santa Elena, a sector close to where the events took place: “I would finish the day on the radio, go out on the corner, take the bus as it was at the time and go down Calle Santa Elena I would go to Letamendi street because my house was on Chimborazo and Letamendi. I would get off there, go towards Chimborazo and I would leave peacefully.”

That voice with soul and strength made him cling to the window to hear it better, and then a lady greeted him: “She tells me Alfonso, how are you. was a wife Gonzalo Herediadirector the radio Condor, where I also worked. Don Alfonso he remembers being very excited “and of course the one I greeted the most was Julio Jaramillo I also asked him why he wears a tuxedo and he told me that he has such impressions, simply when he feels like going to the airport, getting on a plane and coming here. So he told me: ‘I left the Colón Theater in Buenos Aires and instead of going to the hotel I was in, I said I was going to Guayaquil’ and he went directly to his friends”. (AND)
