2022 brought back the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe with its prequel ‘House of the Dragon’. After the “Game of Thrones” ending was not well received by the public, HBO waited a few years to return to the world of George RR Martin, author of the books on which the series is based. However, the new series was so well received by fans and critics that after the premiere of the first episode a second part was announced.

What can fans of ‘House of the Dragon’ expect in the second season? When will it be released?

The new season of ‘House of the Dragon’ is scheduled to premiere in 2024, so fans are still waiting for the new batch of episodes. Recently, HBO revealed the number of chapters in this second part.

The second season of ‘House of the Dragon’ will have 8 chapters, two less than the first term. This cut, as published by the specialist site Deadline, has nothing to do with a matter of cost or lack of interest on the part of HBO Max (a platform in the process of joining Discovery), but rather with the plot. In other words, the same story they want to tell in this episode can be developed in that number of episodes.

Production on the second season is about to start in the UK, and will be released in 2024.

‘House of the Dragon’ tells about the events of the House Targaryen, 172 years before Game of Thrones. The civil war that broke out after the death of King Viserys I is central to this story that will be continued in the second part. The Greens, led by Queen Alicent Hightower, and the Blacks, led by Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen, will face off again.
