They live involuntarily celibate, they blame it on women. According to the police, they are becoming more and more dangerous

The Scottish Police have started to develop a strategy to combat violence against women. It will cover, among other things, how to deal with incels. “We need to create a society free of violence,” said Deputy Chief of Police Jane Connors.

Incel is short for involuntary celibate. The term has been appropriated by single men who blame women for their relationship failures. People who define themselves as incels claim that they are unable to form relationships and enter into intimate relationships, even though they really want to. At some point, rejected men began to share their frustrations on internet forums and social media. In their language, they became femoids, Polish Julki. It was these men who held them responsible for their forced sexual abstinence.

– Incels operate at extremes. They live in the conviction that there is only one way of functioning, that, for example, women are to assume and fulfill certain roles. Sexuality is bad, living in freedom is also bad, so the only right choice is to commit yourself to a family where both the woman and the man are expected to follow certain patterns. You can see a strong patriarchal look here, because in this relationship the woman is in a lower position, said sexologist and psychologist Patrycja Wonatowska in an interview with Gazeta.pl.

Sarah Everard case

Recently, the news spread around the world that the Scottish police began to develop a strategy to combat violence against women. It will also cover how to deal with incels who have become increasingly radicalized in recent years. It is worth mentioning that confidence in the police officers in Great Britain suffered when it was revealed that the murderer of 33-year-old Sarah Everard was a London policeman – Wayne Couzens. The incident happened in March 2021. After the end of his shift at work, the man decided to carry out his plan. Even though the victim was accidental, the policeman carefully planned the attack. When he noticed a young and lonely woman, he handcuffed her, put her in his car and drove off. He then raped her and strangled her with a police belt.

Scottish police report

From the report prepared by the Scottish Police, we learn that experts together with officers will try to recognize the scale of the phenomenon. They also pointed out that incel violence is not limited to murder. Often it is also harassment or online hate. “We must create a society free of violence, abuse, exploitation and harassment of girls and women,” Deputy Police Chief Jane Connors said.
