Agnieszka Grochowska on “Skołowane”: Finally, I play a character who smiles

What is her new movie character? About this, among others tells Agnieszka Grochowska, who plays Julia in a wheelchair in what the creators describe as a positively romantic comedy. “Shocked” hits cinemas on April 14.

This is the Polish version of the story, which won the hearts of viewers first in France, a story about the meeting of Maks, the eternal “Piotruś Pan” (played by Micha³ Czernecki), and the hit Julia. Asked by Agnieszka Woźniak-Starak about her heroine, the actress replies:

I thought to myself, man, I’m finally playing a character who smiles. I felt like I smiled more in this role than in all my other roles that I’ve played in 20 years. That suddenly this is someone who, even though he would have a reason to be less happy, to break down on certain things…

– … is after the accident, her life collapsed at some point. She has a lot of reasons to let go, to say: “Okay, then I don’t want to, because my rules were supposed to be different, I was supposed to live differently, it was supposed to look different”, and she does not give up in some amazing style – explains Grochowska. “I felt minute by minute, day by day of shooting, that it was bringing something very concrete and very clear to my life,” she adds. What does it have to do with Julka in the film and what does life on her own terms mean to her? Hear about it in the video interview below.

“Shocked” in cinemas. What is the production about?

What is director Jan Macierewicz talking about in the film? Maks is an incorrigible womanizer, and at the same time a notorious liar. When Anna, a young and attractive woman, mistakes him for a person with a disability, Maks delves into a lie, hoping for another easy pick-up. However, Anna has a different plan – she presents it to her older sister, Julia, who is in a wheelchair. Maks, who has an unexpectedly cynical attitude towards the world, and Julia, who is full of energy, begin to have something more in common, but… lie as the foundation of the relationship? Does this love have a chance? You will see it in cinemas. Agora is the media patron of the production.
