She wanted to apostasy. The outrageous reaction of the priest. “He was asking about some satanic groups”

Apostasy is a topic that evokes extreme emotions. It is a conscious severing of all ties with the community of the Church. However, in order to do so, it is necessary to initiate a rather complicated procedure. Recently, a woman from the Silesian Voivodship told about how it looked in her case.

The apostasy procedure is currently regulated by the General Decree of the Polish Episcopate Conference on leaving the Church and returning to the community of the Church of 2016. On the basis of these regulations, it can be performed by an adult. Beforehand, she must prepare a written declaration, as well as a baptismal certificate and an identity document. However, the whole procedure is not that easy, as people who decide to take such a step often find out.

The woman wanted to make an apostasy. Scandalous words of a priest

Last year, as many as 69 people from the Bielsko-Żywiec diocese decided to apostasy. A woman told about her experiences in an interview with the portal Bielsko.info. As she recalls, she made her statement in the parish of St. John the Baptist in Bielsko-Biała Komorowice. The conversation with the priest lasted over an hour.

– It started well, the gentleman was very polite, but he could not understand my decision and insisted on addressing him “correctly”, as the parish priest. Later, however, he talked about situations when apostasy was needed to join the SS (the Nazi Schutzstaffel formation that was subordinate to the NSDAP – ed.) during the war and asked about any satanic groups and situations that I would perform over a copy of the baptism certificate – she quotes her words www.bielsko.info. “I was really happy when I got out of there. I felt it was over,” she added.

Obtaining a baptismal certificate is not that easy

Bielsko.info also described the experience of another person who decided to apostasy. The man went through the procedure at St. Brother Albert in Bielsko-Biała. Initially, the priest did not want to give him the baptism certificate. Only when the man appeared a second time did he receive the document. – Obtaining a certificate of baptism for apostasy from the parish priest was almost impossible. The act was issued on the second attempt by the curate – he confessed.
