A peaceful and quiet life is what he was looking for Johnny Depp after being involved in a legal trial with Amber Heard a year ago, which overwhelmed him due to the media pressure and attention that gathered around it. When justice was in his favor, he finally decided to rebuild his life and be happy, for which he chose the rural English county of Somerset, where he settled for his 59 years of life.

In an interview for a magazine Somerset Life, the actor said he left the Hollywood scene because “I just love places with character. I have several houses in various places and they all mean something special to me. I don’t have them just to say I have them, I have them to wear and because they are a little special.”

This property, which cost him 13 million pounds, allows him to live a quiet life: “The British are great and will greet you as a neighbor without exaggeration,” he said. “I don’t mind if people want an autograph or a quick chat, but I do mind when I have a private moment with my family.”

By this, he implied that they respect his privacy: “I can go to the store without being surrounded by people who want selfies.” It doesn’t bother me to some extent, but sometimes it’s too much.” Alongside this life, he has also adopted activities such as painting, since in recent months he has devoted himself to selling portraits of “people I admire, I express my feelings through art,” he said.

Johnny Depp likes to consider himself an introvert and quite shy. “That’s one of the great things about Britain, and Somerset in particular. I can just be me, and that’s good,” he said.

Somerset is about three and a half hours from London by car. The actor’s house is very spacious, with 12 bedrooms and eight bathrooms, located on 850 hectares and surrounded by walled gardens. (AND)
