American rapper Young Dolph shot to death in Memphis cookie shop

American rapper Young Dolph has been shot and killed in Memphis, his hometown, city authorities have reported.

The events took place this Wednesday after 12:00 noon, when the Police were alerted by a shooting in a candy store that the 36-year-old rapper frequently visited on his trips home. Young Dolph, whose given name was Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was found dead of gunshot wounds.

The Police have reported that the perpetrators arrived in a car and shot the musician when I was shopping at that establishment. So far, no suspect has been identified.

“This act is another example of senseless gun violence that we experience locally and nationally, “said Police Chief Cerelyn Davis.

For his part, the mayor of the city, Jim Strickland, said on Twitter that “the tragic death of rapper Young Dolph is another reminder of the pain that violent crime brings“.

As reported by a cousin of the artist to ‘The Daily Memphian’, Young Dolph was in town to visit an aunt suffering from cancer. In the morning he participated in a charity drive for the upcoming Thanksgiving festival and distributed turkeys to those in need.

SegĂșn ‘The Commercial Appeal’, the artist had already been the target of two attacks in 2017: In February, his armored van was shot more than 100 times in Charlotte, North Carolina and months later, he was shot multiple times and seriously injured outside a hotel in Los Angeles.
