The stage of elimination of participants, in which the jurors decide who will have a chance to fight for victory outside the castings, always arouses a lot of emotions among both singers and spectators. Controversy aroused one of the decisions made in the 6th episode of the 5th season of “Idol” from 2017, a popular talent show format in Poland.
The top three turned out to be one of the weakest
Participants aspiring to be stars of the stage were divided into three-person groups, in which they had to face the first challenge in the program – in one hour to develop one of nine songs from the repertoire of, among others, Justin Timberlake or Mroz. One of the three included 28-year-old Justyna Stępień, 18-year-old Karolina Artymowicz and Sylwia Wąsik. They prepared a hit with Miley Cyrus – “Wrecking Ball”.
How are you listening to others in the corridor or somewhere in the toilets, under the radiators, how are they doing? Fun or misery?
– asked the participants Wojciech Łuszczykiewicz from the Video team. The girls criticized the competition, convincing the jurors that “they are the best three”. However, it soon turned out that not all of them applied themselves to the task entrusted to them.
Sylwia did not always hit the notes, while Justyna forgot the text. However, she tried to get out of a difficult situation by singing the melody itself, which impressed the jury and the host – Maciej Rock. “We did what we could,” admitted the stressed participants.
“very unfair”
Contrary to appearances, they were forgiven, although not all of them got a second chance – Karolina Artymowicz, who flawlessly performed the piece (admitting that she knew it by heart before) and Justyna Stępień advanced to the next stage. The jury decided to reject Sylwia Wąsik, who, unlike one of the competitors, did not make a mistake in the text, but she did not cope with the task vocally. Not all Internet users shared their opinion.
Massacre, a great girl, a blonde with a great voice, dropped out, and they took a third who didn’t even learn the lyrics. Failure.
Very unfair. Whoever forgot the text should immediately fly, not pass.
Some, however, stood up for the participant.
Justyna Stępień won because she was able to get out of the situation, she did not give up, she showed charisma, personality and in a short time she made her own brand.
30 people advanced to the “theatre” stage, held on the stage of the Roma Musical Theatre. Ultimately, the best result in the program was achieved by Karolina Artymowicz, who quickly became the favorite of the viewers. In the final she took a high 2nd place, giving way to Mariusz Dyba.
