Hailing from London, Harrison Marshall is an artist and architect. Looking for ways to save money in times when the whole world is struggling with high inflation, he gave up renting an apartment. Instead, he arranged a cozy studio apartment in a garbage can. And it is still more functional than many apartments offered by pathdevelopers.
He was fed up with high housing prices and moved to a dumpster downtown
Marshall’s current flat is not only in a great location – it is located in the very center of London – but it is also functional. For the implementation of the entire project, the man paid 4 thousand. pounds, or about 21,000 zlotys. For renting a studio apartment in London you need to pay around 2,000. pounds, about PLN 10,500.
Inside the apartment there is a kitchen with a portable electric hob, sink and functional worktop. He also found a way to develop the space on the walls – there are many shelves for storing food and kitchen utensils. He also placed decorative elements in the kitchen – pictures and flowers. The next level of the apartment is a mezzanine with a comfortable bed and lamps that create an atmospheric mood in the space. He admits that the textiles he has placed in the bedroom are an important issue. Soft and warm sheets make it cozy.
Unfortunately, there was not enough space to arrange the bathroom. In one of the interviews, Harrison Marshall talked about how he manages without access to a shower. He moved his morning and evening routine to the gym or to work. He brushes his teeth in the kitchen sink. He also rents a portable toilet which he uses when he is at home. Monthly fees are around £50.
The apartment has also become an attraction for the inhabitants of the city. It happens that an architect sees tours under his house. He posted a recording of one of these meetings on his Instagram profile. He has been living there for a year.
