New Polish Netflix series
Among these items, the series undoubtedly stands out “Feedback” based on Jakub Żulczyk’s book of the same title. Arkadiusz Jakubik, who plays the main role, was so engrossed in the script that he read it almost in one sitting, and watching the edited materials for the first time, he forgot that he was playing there himself and got into the plot. It is hard to find a better recommendation. What exactly will the production tell about? “An alcohol-addicted former rock musician embarks on a crazy journey into the darkest corners of Warsaw and the human psyche to find his missing son,” reads the announcement. The role of the said son was played by the debutant Jakub Sierenberg. The screenplay based on the novel was written by Kacper Wysocki, who previously created “Klangor” and worked for Netflix on the series “Królowa”.

The series about a young Roma also promises to be strong “Infamy” according to the idea of Anna Maliszewska. “After years of living in the UK, a teenage Roma girl and her family move to their native Poland. After returning, the girl tries to find herself, balancing between the modern world of teenagers and traditional Roma rules” – Netflix’s introduction sounds quite enigmatic. The first trailer, however, promises a lot of very dramatic events – arranged marriages, family conflicts and forbidden feelings. The cast included Zofia Jastrzębska, Sebastian Łach, Magdalena Czerwińska and Kamil Piotrowski. The production was taken by Watchout Studio, known for such productions as “Gods”, “The Art of Loving”, “Hidden Game”. The screenplay was written by Dana Łukasińska, Anna Maliszewska and Julita Olszewska, and directed by Anna Maliszewska and Kuba Czekaj.
Another Polish series is a coming of age story and is titled “Absolute Rookies” with Martyna Byczkowska, Bartłomiej Deklewa and Jan Sałasiński in the lead roles. “Summer, Polish sea. Nineteen-year-old Lena and her best friend Niko make a daring film about love in order to get into film school. When a stranger from a sports camp appears on the horizon, the heroes will experience delight, lust and complete freedom. This is the last vacation like this” – announce the creators. The script was written by the trio of Nina Lewandowska, Kamila Tarabura and Jędrzej Napiecek, and directed by Kamila Tarabura and Katarzyna Warzecha. In production, we will see, among others: Katarzyna Warnke.
Polish Netflix movies
Netflix came up with an intriguing idea to offer Agnieszka Grochowska the main role in an action movie. This one is titled “Mother’s Day” and directed by Mateusz Rakowicz, known from “Najmro. Loves, steals, respects”. The actress assures that participation in this production was one of the greatest professional adventures for her, and what is the story about?
“Nina, an undercover former NATO agent for special assignments, must use all her deadly skills to save her son kidnapped by ruthless mobsters. Finding Max is a double chance for her. which she had to abandon years ago. Mother’s Day is a perverse action film in which the main character defeats the demons of the past, most often with her own fists. It is a brutal and emotional story about the strongest kind of feeling – the love of a mother for her child. We saw a recorded rehearsal for one of the fight scenes – it promises to be interesting.
Film can be particularly relevant for young viewers who struggle with similar issues in their lives “fanfic” about a transgender teenager. “Tosia is a young person who faces the role imposed by her environment. She is considered an outsider by her peers. With time, she discovers her identity and begins to understand that she is a boy, Toś. Fanfic is a story about growing up, getting to know yourself and taming the world” says the announcement. The director was Marta Karwowska, who also wrote the screenplay together with Grzegorz Jaroszuk. The main roles were played by: Alin Szewczyk, Jan Cieciara, Dobromir Dymecki.
“Phenomenon” is, in turn, a new film from the producers of the Oscar-nominated “Corpus Christi”. Attention, this is a science-fiction production: Teenage Ala grows up in the province. One day, she accidentally discovers that she can manipulate gravity, and her life turns upside down. She is suddenly pursued by the military and forced to flee her home. However, she learns that her older sister Lena, who disappeared years ago, is alive and decides to find her, believing that the family past holds the key to solving the mystery of her extraordinary power. The meeting of the sisters will be the beginning of a great adventure, but it soon turns out that both girls are a potential tool to create a legendary and powerful weapon.

Unfortunately, Mąka steals a microphone from the recording studio and the boys fall into debt. A gangster appears in Diego’s way from Slovakia, who offers him a golden and fast business. Diego accepts the challenge; the deal will settle the debt matter and allow him to cut himself off from the past once and for all. Will Diego come out of it alive? It’s not easy to swim in a swamp – black clouds gather in the sky and the noose around the neck is tightening” – the summaries tempt. Directed by Maciek Bochniak.
Netflix has also prepared two adaptations of classic Polish novels for 2023. In addition to the hype already announced “Quack”, in which Artur Barciś will also play (this is a sensational announcement, because, as we remember – in Jerzy Hoffman’s film adaptation, he played the miller’s son, whom the title character healed after his legs were badly set after breaking), there is also a new “Mr. Automobile and the Templars”. Antoni Nykowski directed the adaptation of Zbigniew Nienacki’s cult novel. The main roles were played by: Mateusz Janicki (he replaces the legendary Sniasław Mikulski in this role), Piotr Sega, Kalina Kowalczuk and Olgierd Blecharz.
If someone doesn’t remember or hasn’t read “Mr. Samochodzik”, here’s a summary: “A well-known art historian, treasure hunter and owner of an unusual car stumbles upon a Templar treasure, which is the key to a great power that can upset the balance of good and evil in the world. Supported by friendly scouts, Mr. Samochodzik starts a great race against time and a hostile organization, the stake of which is the heritage of knightly orders.
