Works for the relocation of the work Prime numbers by the artist Esther Ferrer (San Sebastián, 1937) in the internal square of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basque Country-Artium Museoa have been supervised today by the artist from San Sebastián in the Gipuzkoan capital.

Prime Numbers is a large piece, made up of more than 10,000 ceramic pieces, in which Ferrer works with the serialization of prime numbers, a recurring theme in his production.

This will also be the first work by a woman located in the immediate vicinity of the museum, which already has works by Chillida, Oteiza, Serra and Basterretxea, among others.

Prime Numbers was installed in the Prado Park in 2003. It consists of 10,000 square stoneware ceramic tiles, with 3 types of pieces: 4,410 pieces with a red diagonal, 4,410 pieces with a blue diagonal, and the rest with a printed prime number. , from 41 to 10,039, both included.

In 2011, Artium Museoa organized the exhibition ‘Esther Ferrer. In four movements’, and currently the artist is represented in the Basque Country Museum of Contemporary Art Collection with fundamental works in her career such as the video Acciones corporales (1975), the series of photographs Self-portrait in time (1981-1994 ) and two drawings from the series Poema de los números primos (1980).
