Paul GrantBritish actor who played unforgettable roles in two of the most important film sagas, died on Monday in a London hospital, four days after he was found unconscious at the exit of Kings Cross station.

Following his eldest daughter Sophie Jayne’s statement to Sky News, the news went viral on social media where users started paying tribute to the late actor. “I am devastated. My dad was a legend in many ways,” said Sophie.

The actor was born on February 3, 1970, and is 1.34 meters tall thanks to congenital spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia, a genetic type of dwarfism. That’s why he played short characters.

Paul Grant gave life to Griphook, the leprechaun who first appears in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001). He is the wizard bank clerk at Gringotts and he is the one who takes Harry to withdraw his money. Griphooks also reappears in Deathly Hallows, when he is kidnapped by allies of the evil Voldemort and rescued by Harry.

Another of his most memorable roles was in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983), where he played the Ewok Kneesau, who helps the Rebel Alliance in George Lucas’ third film. Grant was only 13 years old when he took part in this film, which motivated him to pursue acting.

Grant also starred in Labyrinth (1986), The Dead (1987) and The Three-Headed Beast (2022). (AND)
