The song has a catchy piano intro, and guitar and drum sounds are added later. However, in the case of “Jenny”, the most attention was focused on the song’s lyrics. When the song became very popular, most listeners wondered who the mysterious Jenny was, to whom the artist refers in the chorus of the song:
Jenny, my name is Jenny. Maybe it will make a difference now that you know. Oddly hot Jenny… What’s on her mind, only I know.
Who is “Jenny” from Edyta Bartosiewicz’s song?
Edyta Bartosiewicz has been asked many times about the message of the song and who the title “Jenny” is, but sometimes her answers were very enigmatic. This was the case, for example, in an interview with Piotr Metz, which the artist gave in 2014:
For me, this is the clearest text I could write. In a short chorus, I managed to convey the message I wanted: once you know my name is Jenny, you will know everything.

She is a makeup artist, soulful, a little out of this world. She studied pedagogy. I made up the name Jenny for her because she has warm vibes for me. It reminds me of gentleness and loss. There are many Jennies like her in the world, me and a few others. I know a few guys like that too.
However, this information did not reach all listeners and many people began to see the lack of sense in the chorus of the song. Some listeners treat the lyrics of radio hits too literally and do not try to find the second day. Bartosiewicz did not convince anyone of her arguments, but pointed out that the song is extremely controversial and its message is very important to her.
– Until recently, extreme characters functioned in me, even the double eyebrows visible in the music video reflect this. Either one took over or the other. They could never center themselves. So it should be clear that the title “Jenny” is merely a metaphor that is inspired by a real person. But what made the artist most happy with the popularity of the song was the abundance of messages she received later from young listeners who directly said that in the song they found a story about themselves. This is what she said about it for “Bravo” magazine in 1997:
In a way, I relate to this song. And not only me – when my friends heard it, each of them said that it was a song about her.
The album “Dziecko” further established the singer’s position on the Polish music scene, and the album quickly went platinum. In addition, the album also brought the singer Fryderyk in the Album of the Year category and three other nominations. However, none of them matched the popularity of the song “Jenny”, which is still eagerly listened to by listeners and played by radio stations.
