They call themselves the ‘landscape brigades‘, residents of the A Coruña municipality of Oza-Cesuras who have found nothing less than some medieval gold mines in the middle of the mountain They have found these gold mines forgotten since the Middle Ages by sharing what they found on their walks in the countryside and remembering the legends of their ancestors.
Isabel Rodríguez, from the Monte do Gato-Seselle Association, tells us that “in principle there are threetwo open pit and a gallery that is studying” the mines discovered in this territory.
Studying the clues on the ground and the legends. This is how Bruno, founder of the Brigades da Paisaxe, and his neighbors began to suspect the existence of the mines. “It is said that in these grottos and caves the maquis were hiding and simply looking for the territorial base of those myths that most of the time has a real territorial base”, explains Bruno.
To do this, they have had the help of an archaeologist and the myth has come true. In A Coruña, in the 12th century, the gold associated with the quartz and quartzite veins.
The archaeologist Antón Fernández Malde explained to laSexta what the process was like: “The technology they use is to identify a vein of quartz or quartzite on the surface and start digging.”
The parish church of Trasanquelos. There was located in the Middle Ages the Monastery of Trasanquelos to which the lands where these gold mines were located belonged.
The archaeologist Antón Fernández Malde also recalls that “these monasteries are the only ones capable of organizing the territory and manpower of this caliber”.
Now, they hope to catalog the site in order to discover everything that hides inside.
