Independent bookstores and publishers will hold their literary meeting at the Library of the Arts

The fair and talks will take place on the first floor of the Arts Library (Aguirre and Pichincha, corner) from 10:00 to 18:30.

For four days the Arts Library will become the main stage of the seventh edition of the Meeting of Independent Publishers Free Book of the School of Literature of the University of the Arts, which this year will have as its main theme the future of independent publishing.

The meeting, inaugurated this Tuesday, will run until Saturday, November 20 with the presence of 19 independent publishers and bookstores from various parts of the country and abroad, who will be presenting their literary novelties. Among the publishers that will be part of this party are Blanca, Insurgente, La Caída, Corpse Exquisite, El Fauno Verde, Manzana Bomb, Bookish, Fondo de Cultura Económica, Caleidoscopia, Candaya, Inlimbo, among others.

We are going to see a diversity. In other words, we are not going to see the usual labels, but we are going to see other things that are being produced here and elsewhere. It is like opening ourselves towards the possibility of bibliodiversity“, mentions Maria Paulina Briones, teacher of the UArtes and organizer of the meeting.

Briones prefers to refer to publishers as self-managed, and invites you to think about the work they do independently. “It is here in the independent publishers where the first writers are made; It is the independent publishers who are actually betting on authors who are not well known … who are betting on quality and diverse literary content.”, he says.
