Seniors who receive a pension can count on not only additional payments in the form of “thirteen” and “fourteen” this year. In addition, it is worth getting acquainted with the reliefs that apply to them. Some services are free of charge, while others can count on significant discounts, up to 50 percent. What are we talking about?
Discount on public transport. Some are completely free of charge
In many cities, seniors can count on discounts on public transport, but the amount depends on the municipality. What’s more, after the age of 70, in some it is completely free. This applies to e.g. Krakow, Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław or Łódź. However, remember that in order to use public transport, you must have a document with a photo and date of birth.
Seniors and RTV 2023 subscription fees. Who is exempt from it?
Seniors can also count on a fee waiver. This applies to people who:
- have turned 60 and receive an old-age pension, but not more than the monthly amount of 50% of average salary,
- have turned 70.
Just remember that in order to take advantage of the relief, you must go to a Poczta Polska point and present there an application and a document that will confirm that you are entitled to a fee exemption.
Discounts for seniors over 60. Changes in the pensioner’s ID card
People who have reached the required retirement age, i.e. 60 years for women and 65 for men, as well as those who receive a compensatory pension or teacher’s benefit, they receive a pensioner’s ID card. Since this year, it has been issued ex officio in online form and is visible in the mObywatel application. What discounts does it entitle to?
- For the previously mentioned public transport.
- 50 percent to obtain a passport and to do it for free after turning 70.
- 37 percent for two trips a year by PKP Intercity train.
- For cultural outings, i.e. to the cinema, museum or theater.
- Coverage of part of rehabilitation fees.
It is worth knowing that if you want to receive an ID card in the form of a plastic blank, you must submit an application. The documents issued so far remain valid.
