The Culture 2028 Strategic Plan will allocate 293 million euros for the period 2022-2025

The Basque Government has approved in its meeting today, Tuesday, the Strategic Plan Culture 2028which constitutes one of the 16 plans planned for the XII legislature.
Part of the will to situate the culture at the center of society and the objective of giving it greater centrality in the public policies of the institutions. Likewise, it places citizens at the center of cultural policies, trying to respond to their needs and the well-being of the entire society.
Furthermore, this plan highlights the important economic dimension of culture (16,886 companies in cultural and creative industries in the Basque Autonomous Community in 2020 and 31,500 jobs), and proposes the recognition of its professional nature and the treatment of culture as its own economic sector.
On the one hand, three axes are established: creation, offer and transmission. On the other hand, two transversal commitments are established: the revitalization and normalization of Basque and the equality of women and men. Finally, the plan is based on and claims a way of doing things: the auzolan.
Based on this structure, the Culture 2028 Strategic Plan is articulated in four strategic objectives: promote creative talent, enrich the cultural offer, promote cultural heritage and foster the digital leap.

In addition, in each of the strategic objectives several significant projects called milestones have been identified, among which are expanding the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum and establish the bases of the project Guggenheim Urdaibai.
economic forecast
The plan makes an economic forecast for the period 2023-2025 (which will be reviewed and completed in 2025 for the period 2026-2028). Regarding economic planning, it is verified that in 2022 and 2023 special investments are being made especially for heritage. With all this, a total of €293 million of the Vice Ministry of Culture for the period 2022-2025.
