What can you tell us about Rico?

He’s a great tenor saxophonist who I got to play with because we were in the same promotion. And he’s a very cool person, very interesting.

How did he receive the invitation from you?

Rico saw what we did last year austin zhang (also saxophonist); and he wrote to tell me that if ever there was an opportunity to come, he was willing. And it was perfect, because For me, it’s not just about them being great musicians, but also about them having a special human component, because I believe all of this is reflected in music.. When you make art, it expresses who you really are.

How did your arrival come about?

Rico will stay here for a few weeks. He was looking for the time, the space in his agenda and the way to come to our country.

What repertoire have you prepared for your audience?

We have Rico’s original songs; he has a very interesting way of composing. And from there we will have bluesballads, some latin jazz, boss Also; but also some traditional themes, such as caravanbut always with a modern touch that’s what the Joan Sánchez Trio and the sound of Rico have. We’ve all studied tradition, because we’ve all studied in that band jazz as profession, but of course we have a modern style and we are full of energy from the choices we make artistically.

one time access: $25. The concert lasts about 90 minutes and starts at 8:30 PM. The doors open at 8 p.m.
